Dear Parents,

Good day!  Our Foundation Day celebration falls on a Friday next week, July 1.  Students will be asked to come for a simple half-day affair.

Please take note of the details and schedule for Gradeschool and Highschool levels given below:

8:00- 9:30 Parade of Birthday Umbrellas

-        Most Creative Umbrella
Students will be asked to decorate an umbrella at home  (instead of a birthday hat as practiced in the previous years) and to bring this to school for the parade.on Friday morning

-        Umbrella Tableau
Each class will arrange themselves on stage for a 15 second pose exhibiting their creations.  The best tableau will be chosen.

                      9:30- 11:00 Birthday show

A salu-salo of hot “rice lugaw” will take place inside a covered area if there will be rains.  The rice porridge will be prepared by the school canteen.
Each class will bring a topping  for the lugaw.  Examples of toppings: dilis,  fried dried pusit,
                                chicharon bulaklak, squid balls, tuwalya

Everyone is required to bring his own bowl and spoon.

                     12:00-  Dismissal

Students are to come in  CASUAL ATTIRE.

Should classes be suspended due to rains, the celebration will push through on the day classes resume.

Thank You! We hope you can join us in our celebration of the school’s 19th birthday.

Positive Manifestations for the Rolex Awards Please!

TUNGTONG RIVER CONSERVATION PROJECT
UPDATE: JUNE 16, 2011

It is with great pride that we announce the qualification of TRCP as a potential grantee for the Rolex Awards 2012.
Established in 1976, the Rolex Awards recognise pioneering projects that demonstrate innovation and contribute to the betterment of mankind.  Visit rolexawards.com for more info.

Though exact figures are not disclosed, some 1,500 capsule proposals are received annually.  This list is narrowed down to 300 or so projects.  The proponents of the projects are then invited to submit a full proposal.  From the 300 full proposals, a further cut is made to produce a list of 30 finalists.  From these, only 5 will be selected to receive the 100,000 USD grant allocated for each project.

We are making this announcement for two reasons:

(1)  Though final acceptance is still very much a long shot, to be accepted in the initial screening is in itself, an achievement worthy of accolade and so we’d like to share with all the joy and pride that this engenders in the TRCP staff;

(2)  We very much believe that in order to make the final cut, we need your support and prayers.  Let us all continue to work together to make the TRCP a true, concrete and ongoing manifestation of the school’s motto: “Better People, Better Earth.”

The announcement of final acceptance will be made in the first quarter of 2012.  Let us all keep our fingers crossed and our hands joined in prayer for this endeavor.

Cheers!

Faces of Hedcen

The teacher:  Head bent in concentration.
The student:  Face open and eager to learn.
Looks of apprehension or an effort to try to understand the situation.

They are alright and more than that- they are confident!

 My first ethnic attire

Bags in disarray
 A happy chef
and her happy meal of meatballs with chopped malunggay leaves.

 Succulent and healthy noodle dish
These are the Children of the Forest
Thankful to be... the promise of the future:

Better People. Better Earth.
